The American Flag flies high once again over Providence Forge, and we have the generosity of longtime PF I resident, Brian Flammer, to thank.
Brian donated our new flag to replace the one that fell during a recent storm when the sharp winds snapped the cables that held Old Glory. Thanks to a local gentleman who took to Facebook to let us know that our beloved Red, White and Blue had fallen to the ground. He had carefully and with great respect picked her up and placed her on our Farmhouse porch so she would be safe and protected, along with the cable that finally gave way under the pressure of the recent rain storms and severe winds.
Brian did not hesitate, immediately reaching out to get the specs and had the new flag on its way within the hour. He wished to do this in memory of his father, George L. Flammer, who passed away in 1982 on Halloween. This seems only appropriate and so moving as our old Star Spangled Banner fell to the ground on October 30th, just a day before what would be the 39th Anniversary of George’s death. George served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
We are so appreciative of Brian’s kindness and honored to share in celebrating his father’s memory as we witness Old Glory swaying back and forth each day. Thank you so much, Brian! May God Bless America!
